A very comfortable place. As Helsinki isn't the cheapest city considering hotel prices, we were choosing a hotel with all the necessary amenities and not too expensive at the same time. Quite accidentally I found this hotel in the Internet. I wrote there by e-mail and got information I wanted very quickly. I consulted my family and we decided to stay in it. My overall impression is very positive. Though the furniture in the room isn't new, it adds some charm to the place. The room was very spacious (#301). There was a tea/coffee set. The towels were changed every day. The cleaning was well-done.The staff is very helpful and hospitable. The breakfasts are also quite sufficient. If you look for modern things and luxury, it isn't for you. If you look for comfort, cosyness and hospitality, then it might be your choice. I'm sure I'll stay there again!
Small, comfortable room.
Thanks to the reviews, Hotel Arthur was what I expected. Great location, friendly staff and a small comfortable room! I opted for the ‘share bathroom/shower’ facilities room and was happy with my selection. My room was on the 8th floor and the toilet was nearby, never had to wait and the shower was on the floor below, but again, never had to wait. Both facilities were always clean and the shower had great water flow and room to move! My room was small and basic, with a single bed and vanity and a small desk and tv and hairdryer. There was no view, as such, but I wasn’t there for a room with a view! I was very comfortable and slept well, in a comfortable bed and it was quiet. It was really hot (27 - 30C) for the 3 days I was in Helsinki, but, it was not hot in my room. The window opened sufficiently to let in fresh air. There was no wardrobe, just a coat rack type stand, with plenty of hooks, so, I sort of lived out of my suitcase, but, things like that don’t bother me for short stays! My room was clean and comfortable, and had everything I needed, which I appreciated. Breakfast (included) was good! Hot drinks, pastries, cereals, cold meats, salad, fresh fruits, bread, toasters and good, large restaurant/dining area. You can get other cooked breakfast things, by paying extra. All hotel staff I encountered were friendly, helpful, well presented and efficient. Such nice people, so, thank you to all for making my stay such a pleasant one! Late checkout (12pm, loved it!) great reception facilities, lots of seating, coffee/tea available after hours, luggage storage facilities and toilets, if you have a late flight (like I did) and the wi-fi worked great throughout the whole hotel. The Hotel is in a good area, close to the Central station and many main attractions, botanical gardens, Hop On/Hop Off bus stop and restaurants/bars/cafes/shopping, all very close by. I felt safe walking around the area, day or night.
Great place to stay in town
Nice staff, near bus access, very big room and silently sleep. You can find cheap food in train station nearby hotel. We found very cheap items shop near this hotel too, they sell souvenir and more things.
Excellent position in the heart of town
Good service and clean rooms.
Maybe a little aged in consideration of price.
If you come by car parking fee is really terrible. 29 euro fee for the garage closed to the hotel.
Perfect location if you are by train or from airport.
Great location and value in Helsinki
We spent 2 nights here and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the harbor, train station, downtown shopping, and practically next door to the wonderful botanical gardens. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a very nice dinner that was reasonably priced in the restaurant and a very good buffet breakfast was included daily in the price of our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. If I ever visit Helsinki again, and I would love to, I'd stay at the Arthur Hotel.
Convenient location with great breakfast
It’s my cousin’s 3rd stay and my 1st time here. What we like most is breakfast here, lots of variety. We stay in standard twin room, it is clean and basic. If you walk from railway station, it may take around 10 minutes.
With their location, it’s convenient for sightseeing around the city. Supermarket is also within few minute walk.
The hotel is old which was established 1907. Still using room key instead of card, old fashioned elevators too. However, the hotel
room is clean and spacious. The room comes with breakfast and free wifi. Wifi speed is slow but the breakfast is nice. Not really near from the central railway station by walk especially if you have to drag your luggage to walk here, as we had hard time on our arrival walking / finding the place with baggage in a cold (-3C) day.
You can take tram 6T to the nearest tram stop near the hotel or Metro station: Helsingfors Universitet (which is one stop from Central Railway Station).
it’s a nice hotel, located at central location at a good price.
I travelled to Helsinki last year on a budget and picked Hotel Arthur. I booked a single room with a shared bathroom. Both my room and the bathroom was clean. The location of the hotel is pretty much perfect. Just a short walk from the central train station, the harbor and most of the sights. I'm 6'3" tall and the bed was a little bit too small for me to sleep completely comfortable, but it was alright for the 2 nights I stayed. I'm aware that the bed size is normal for Scandinavia, next time I will certainly book a double bed which should be about the size of a queen sized bed.
Central location, nice and warm rooms in wintery March
The htel is within walking distance from the main railroad station where the airport bus also stops. It is also near to the University etc. The room was goos both because it was warm in a cold March and because there were enough power outlets for a person travelling with a computer and other stuff. The breakfast was OK - there was something that supposedly was scrambled eggs, but it seemed mass produced and was fairly tasteless. The meatballs OTOH were good.
Great location, walking distance to central station, bus station, shopping district, etc.
Easy to find food, supermarket.
A few steps away from Metro& tram.
Staff was nice & helpful, they let us early check in. Room was old but clean, enough space for both of us & the luggage.
Free wifi & breakfast
